Blind Makes Emotional Comeback For Ajax After Heart Surgery

Published

on

Former Manchester United star Daley Blind made an emotional comeback for Ajax last night, little over two months after undergoing heart surgery.

Blind was recently diagnosed with Myocarditis and was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, a device that sends electrical pulses to regulate abnormal heart rhythm.

The 29-year-old successfully passed rigorous testing from the medical staff at Ajax and returned to the pitch last night in the 77th minute of the KNVB Cup quarter finals, which saw his team thrash Vitesse 6-0, Blind said: ‘I’m really happy to be back on the pitch. It was heavy period because you don’t know what is coming or which news you will get, but luckily it didn’t take long for everything to look good. I have been positive most of the time and was busy with my return.

‘I had a little bit of tension beforehand because you don’t know how it will go. ‘The doctor really needed to hold me back and step on the brakes because I wanted to get back as soon as possible. ‘I wasn’t scared at all, I wanted to get back on the pitch as fast as possible.

Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah, has backed Egypt to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

The Egyptian captain said the Pharaohs would give everything to win the 2021 AFCON trophy in Cameroon.

Salah said this after leading his team to qualify for the AFCON quarter-final.

Carlos Queiroz’s men will now take on Morocco in the AFCON last-8 on Sunday.

“Of course, I want to win something with the national team. It is my country, which I love the most. This trophy for me would be completely different, would be the closest to my heart,” Salah said at his post-match press conference after Egypt defeated Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

“We were close before to win this African Cup [in 2017], we gave it everything, but we were not lucky to win it. But it is ok, now we’re here in the new one.

“We have to fight for it, we’ve to give everything to win it and I am sure the players have the same feeling.”

Arsenal has reportedly agreed on a deal in principle to sign New England Revolution goalkeeper, Matt Turner.

The Evening Standard reports that Turner is now set to arrive at Emirates in the summer of 2022.

New England Revolution will receive around £5 million-plus add-ons for Turner.

The Major League Soccer club will also receive a ten percent sell-on percentage of any future transfer fee for the 27-year-old shot-stopper.

Meanwhile, Everton has their eye on an ambitious move for Chelsea midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

According to Daily Mail, Everton’s interest will be knocked back with Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, not prepared to let the England international leave.

Meanwhile, Juventus also had their eyes on Loftus-Cheek earlier in the January transfer window as they drew up possible replacements for Arthur Melo, who now looks set to stay in Turin.
