WAEC: FG Okays August 4 For Schools Resumption

The Federal Government has suspended the reopening of schools for graduating classes due to the increasing rate of covid-19 cases in Nigeria.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu stated this on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting that was chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He also disclosed that the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, has been postponed indefinitely.

Adamu also explained that Nigerian schools will not reopen any time soon until it is safe to do so. He said that he would prefer Nigerian students lose an academic year than to expose them to dangers.
