Spokesman of the President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), has revealed that the President has made tremendous impact in the fight against Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of the country since coming into power in 2015.
Keyamo blamed the past administration under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their inability to quash the deadly Islamic insurgence, most especially in Maiduguru, Borno State.
He told Al Jazera during an interview that was monitored on Friday by The Pledge that the administration of President Buhari has done enough to decimate Boko Haram from gaining any stronghold within the North East of Nigeria.
“When President Muhammadu Buhari took over power in 2015, Boko Haram has already taken over 14 Local Government Areas in the North East of the country. They have completely gained control of the North East by hoisting their flag in some of the local government areas.
“But right now, the point we are making is that, so much progress has been made as such that Boko Haram has been reduced significantly in the country. The President never said Boko Haram has been beaten or defeated, but that they have been decimated.”
