Doctors Advised Me To Drink More Water — Bawa, Chairman Of Anti-graft Agency, EFCC Speaks On Slumping At Event
Hours after slumping at an event, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has stated that his doctors advised that he should drink more water.
He explained that what happened to him was slight dizziness and that doctors said he was dehydrated.
Recall that Bawa slumped on Thursday afternoon at the third National Identity Day celebration at the Banquet Hall Villla.
Bawa was delivering a goodwill message when he suddenly stopped, staggered back to his seat, and laid down.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, hours after the incident, Bawa said he was dizzy, and had to visit a hospital.
He said, “Today, September 16, is the National Identity Day and while giving my goodwill message at the programme organised by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, I felt a bit of dizziness.
“I excused myself and left the stage. Of course, I went straight to the hospital where the doctors confirmed to me that everything about me was okay except that I was a bit dehydrated and need to take a lot of water.”
Bawa said when he left the hospital he went to his office to put some things in order and was back home.
He thanked Nigerians for the prayers and well wishes “that had been keeping me going.”
Bawa was nominated as the substantive Chairman of the EFCC on February 16, 2021, and on February 24, 2021, he was confirmed by the National Assembly as the Executive Chairman.
He officially took over from Ibrahim Magu, the former acting Chairman of the Commission.

Moghalu Calls For Systemic Approach In Fight Against Corruption
A former Presidential candidate, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, on Thursday detailed the steps that ought to be taken by the federal government towards ensuring the eradication of corruption in the Nigerian society.
Moghalu made this known via a statement in Lagos.
According to the former Deputy Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria, a systemic and serious approach needs to be entrenched in the fight against corruption.
He further noted that over $600bn had been pilfered from the country’s coffers since independence in 1960.
“We can fight corruption in four very important ways. The first is through value system education and reform.
“We have to teach our kids right and wrong from elementary school to secondary school. Ethics must become a compulsory subject.
“Secondly, Nigeria’s leaders must lead by example via accountability to the people.
“Thirdly, there must be punishment for corruption. If anyone engages in the act of corruption, such a person must be made to pay for it and anyone found guilty of corruption must go to prison. It is not enough to simply sack people because they were corrupt.
“Finally, we have to improve the reward of public officers, their servants and the social safety net.
“Many people steal in public life because they are afraid about their old age and whether they will have anything or a roof over their heads.
”So, these are some of the things we must look at. We have to look at fighting corruption in a systematic way and be serious about it,” he added.

Mixed Reactions Trail Appointment of Tunji Bello’s Wife As LASU VC
Mixed reactions have trailed the appointment of Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello as the new Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, LASU.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello, who is the wife of the present Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello was on Thursday announced as the new Vice Chancellor of the State University.
A statement issued by the State Government to announce her appointment said the decision was reached following recommendation by the Joint Committee of Council and Senate of LASU in accordance with the LASU Law, Cap 169 Vol 7, Laws of Lagos State.
But eye brows have been raised in some quarters as to why she was selected from the list which also include two other candidates, Professor Omotayo R. Awofolu and Professor Senapon Bakare.
Some Nigerians who took to social media to react on the development welcomed the appointment while alluding to Prof. Olatunji-Bello’s track record, while others who expressed reservations felt the process was skewed in her favour owing to her husband’s closeness with the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
liltaste0 -My Question now is why Appointing her wife 😢😢 People outside there need this job 😢
msmottbakes -Why ‘Tunji Bello’s wife’??.. She should be defined as who she is not whose wife she is…. Very irrelevant and sexist!🙄🙄
dommaokeoghene -Congratulations Ma’am❤️
jamesumoh23 -After all d committees. Congrats
hon.lazenger-Congratulations on your landmark achievement
toyinleo___the_bi_leo_naire -This was the plan from day 1…they have worked to the answer now….shame shame.
oolatunjiayodele -This headline is so bad. You just rubbished her appointment by putting her husband in the picture. She deserves it, give her her flowers
donaldglasgow01 -Nonsense. This family can not survive without Lagos State Government.
dimejijoseph -Now I know why the back and forth, and the hide and seek game that has been going on all this while. The gods must be angry by [email protected]
