Ahead of Saturday’s House of Assembly election, the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti State has distributed sensitive materials to the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Muslim Omoleke, who said the materials would be distributed to the wards and units on Saturday morning for election to start without delay, said that the commission would not disappoint Ekiti voters.
Omoleke said in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, “The sensitive and non-sensitive materials have been distributed to all the council areas in the presence of party representatives and under heavy security. We are not taking anything for granted. We tracked all the vehicles to ensure that those materials were not diverted.
“We did not only distribute the materials, but we partnered with the security agencies to ensure that they are on the ground in all the LGs to protect them till Saturday. The materials, including the reconfigured smart card readers, ballot boxes and papers are in safe custody and under heavy police protection”.
Omoleke, who said INEC in Ekiti State would perform better in Saturday’s election, charged the security agencies and the electorate to be civil and comport themselves.
“We did not disappoint during the presidential and National Assembly elections and we promise that we will do better in this assembly election”, he said.
Only State House of Assembly election will hold in Ekiti State on Saturday.
