Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has urged their fans to “respect” Sadio Mane’s move to Bayern Munich.
Klopp also has labelled Mane as one of the club’s “greatest ever players”.
The 55-year-old told the club’s official website: “One of Liverpool’s greatest ever players is leaving and we must acknowledge how significant this is.
“He leaves with our gratitude and our love. He leaves with his status among the greats guaranteed. And, yes, he leaves in a moment where he is one of the best players in world football.
“But we must not dwell on what we now lose, instead celebrate what we were privileged to have.
“The goals he scored, the trophies he won; a legend, for sure, but also a modern-day Liverpool icon.”
Mane leaves Liverpool for the Bundesliga champions in a deal worth up to £35m.
He made 269 appearances in all competitions for the Reds since joining from Southampton in 2016, during which he scored 120 goals and registered 48 assists.
In his six years at Anfield, Mane won the Premier League, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
The 30-year-old has signed a contract with the German champions until 2025.

Manchester United Reject Signing Neymar
Manchester United reportedly decided against signing Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar in a swap deal with former midfielder Paul Pogba back in 2019, Express UK reports.
Neymar has continued to be linked with a departure from PSG this summer as he’s irked by comments made by the club’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Al-Khelaifi had recently said: “A possible departure for Neymar this summer?
“What I can tell you is that we expect all players to do a lot more than last season.
“You have to become humble, you have to avoid injuries, suspensions and fouls that change a game.”
However, one team linked with the 30-year-old Brazilian international is Manchester United, although they could have already acquired him three years ago.
Man United’s former chief executive Ed Woodward rejected the opportunity of bringing Neymar to Old Trafford.
PSG reportedly approached Man United about the possibility of exchanging Neymar with Pogba, but the Premier League giants deemed the former Barcelona star to be too expensive.
Neymar’s wages of around £606,000 a week reportedly put Woodward off, and the former executive was also keen to keep Pogba at United.
