Minimum Wage: Buhari Meets State Governors In Aso Rock

In a bid to resolve the minimum wage demand by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Muhammadu Buhari is currently holding a meeting with all the 36 state governors in the country.

The meeting, holding inside the council chamber at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is expected to discuss ways on how the state governors could agree on the payment of the minimum wage.

It will be recalled that a presidential committee set up by the government under the leadership of a former Head of Service of the Federation, Ama Pepple, recommended that the new minimum wage should be increased from N18,000 to N30,000.

However, during a meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) it was agreed that they would be able to pay N22,000 to the labour.
