Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has denied allegations making rounds that his security aides attached to his convoy shot and killed two #EndSARS protesters on Saturday.
Debunking the allegations, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ismail Omipidan in a statement on Sunday, said the two deaths recorded were not in any way linked to the Governor’s visit to the protest ground.
The statement read: “Alleged deaths in Osun happened in circumstances that are not in any way linked to the Gov’s visit to the protest ground.
“First death happened in a motorcycle accident prior to the arrival of the Governor at the protest ground. His arrival time was 2:35pm.
“The LAUTECH hospital confirmed receiving the victim who eventually died at 12:30pm -2hrs earlier.
“The second death claim occurred at Oke- Aiyepe which is several kilometers away from the protest ground and not on the route to the Government house .
“This happened at 4:35 over 30 mins after the Governor was evacuated from the violence- ridden protest ground and settled in the Government House .
“None of these deaths happened at the protest ground . None of the Gov’s aide fired a bullet.”
