The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr Olamilekan Adegbite, on Wednesday described the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, as a unifying factor for Yoruba race, as well as Nigeria.
The minister spoke in Ile Ife during a courtesy visit to the Ooni in his palace.
Adegbite, who described the monarch as an epitome of peace and unity across the Yoruba race, also commended the royal father for adding to the sense of pride of the Yoruba people across the world.
A statement by Moses Olafare, a media aide to the Ooni, quoted the minister as saying, “My father, Ooni Ogunwusi, has since his enthronement established himself as a unifying force not only in Yorubaland but also across Nigeria and Africa.
“Even when some people criticised his several consultations for peace, Baba kept on going stronger and I am happy to say that his sacrifices are now paying off.”
Oba Ogunwusi said Adegbite was a true son of Oduduwa who is determined to prompt service delivery in the interest of the Nigerian people.
