A former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to change his plan of attending the inauguration ceremony of Bayelsa State governor, Douye Dir.
Recall that the President had promised to attend the inauguration of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, David Lyon, who was sacked by the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Mr. Lyon, who won the November 2019 governorship election, was to be sworn in as governor on Friday. However, a five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Mary Odili nullified the election of Mr. Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, presented false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in the state.
In reaction to the development, Sani in his twitter handle urged President Buhari not to go against his promise of attending the inauguration ceremony scheduled for today (Friday) at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
“The President should not postpone his trip to Bayelsa; he should go ahead and attend the swearing-in of the new Governor-elect; A good time to prove he is for everybody…_”
