Super Eagles Defender, Aina Undecided Over Future

Published

on

Torino defender, Ola Aina is not certain where he will be playing his football next season.

Aina struggled for regular playing time after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

The 25-year-old was a regular starter for Torino during the first half of the campaign.

The versatile defender, however, made just one of five appearances out of a possible 16 after returning from AFCON.

Aina has been linked with a move away from the Turin outfit with a number of Premier League reportedly interested in his services.

“Nothing is really clearer, but hopefully in a few weeks I’d know exactly what I am working towards,” he told BBC Sport Africa.

“Obviously a player wants to go to a place or team where they can play regularly. For me, that’s a must and I wouldn’t look anywhere if I am not trying to play regularly or if I can’t force myself to play regularly.

“For the future, I just want to be able to play at the highest level for the biggest clubs possible. That’s a dream and aspiration of mine, so hopefully, something happens.

“We’ll see what the future holds, and hopefully whatever team it is or whether I stay at Torino, they will understand that the African Cup of Nations and playing for my country is a big part of my career and life, so I will be hoping to continue to play for Nigeria without any problems.”

Published

on

Liverpool striker, Darwin Nunez has broken the silence after he was sent off in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday.

The Uruguayan apologised for his headbutt on Crystal Palace defender, Joachim Andersen.

He admitted it was a bad attitude from him and promised such would never happen again.

Nunez said he will ‘learn from his mistake’ after the 23-year-old lost his cool and attacked Andersen and got a straight red card.

Liverpool still managed to draw the game after Luis Diaz cancelled out Wilfried Zaha’s opener.

“I am aware of the ugly attitude I had. I’m here to learn from my mistakes and it won’t happen again,” Nunez tweeted.

The South American added in another tweet, “Apologies to Liverpool all. I’ll be back.”

A red card for violent conduct is expected to earn Nunez a three-match suspension.
