Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has commended Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye for his transfer move to Dutch club, Sparta Rotterdam.

Okoye made his international debut for the Super Eagles in a friendly game against the Samba Boys of Brazil which ended 1-1 in 2019.

Reacting to the development, Shorunmu told Thepledge.ng that Okoye’s move to the Dutch Eredivisie would improve his goalkeeping experience and challenge ahead of his career.

“I personally believe Maduka Okoye’s move to Dutch club, Sparta Rotterdam is a welcome development considering the fact that the league is competitive,” Shorunmu told Thepledge.ng.

“We have quality players who are playing there and that will test how good the Nigerian goalkeeper is.

“I want to hope that this move will make him a better goalkeeper and put him in shape for the senior national team ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.”
