The Croydon Crown court, England, has sentenced one Adeyinka Ajose, to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenager.
According to the statement on the Metropolitan Police website, the 64-year-old Nigerian-born man was sentenced on Thursday after admitting to multiple sexual offences committed against the victim.
“Those that abuse the trust of the most vulnerable in our society are some of the most insidious offenders,” Matthew Amos, the investigating officer said.
“The offences committed by Ajose are truly shocking and the sentence he has received reflects this.
“If the victim had not had the courage to come forward, Ajose’s campaign of abuse may well have continued.”
Ajose was found guilty on four counts of the rape of a female child under 13, one count of the sexual assault of a female child under 13 and one count of assault/ ill-treatment of a child.
The court heard that police were called to a residential address in Addington, Croydon at 21:1 3hrs on November 10, 2020.
The victim alleged that she was sexually abused by Ajose for several months. Ajose was subsequently arrested and was charged on November 13 and remanded in custody for trial.
“I urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse or who knows anything about it, to come forward to police,” Amos said.
“We have specially trained officers who will listen to and support you.”

Two Deadly Robbers Abdulateef, Sanusi Nabbed In Lagos With pistol
Two deadly robbery suspects, Lekan Abdulateef and Tajudeen Sanusi have been arrested by the police in Oshodi, Lagos with a pistol and charms.
Officials of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) made the arrest at about 10.00pm on Monday, as the suspects in possession of a locally made pistol and charms.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Lagos Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspects were out to perpetrate crimes across their target points when they were nabbed.
He said the vigilant RRS team on patrol around Oshodi metropolis, intercepted the robbers who were riding on a motorcycle suspiciously.
“The two (2) suspects namely Lekan Abdulateef, (M), aged 23 and Tajudeen Sanusi, (M), aged 24 are both indigenes of kwara State and residents of Ajegunle and Orile areas of Lagos respectively.
“One of the suspects Lekan Abdulateef, who was in possession of the pistol at the time of arrest, confessed to have bought the gun at the rate of hundred thousand naira (N100,000.00) from the vendor,” he said.
“He confessed further to have been using his pistol to rob motorists during traffic around Ojota to Maryland, 7up, China Town, Eko Bridge and Mile 2.
“The Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi however confirmed that the two (2) suspects have been transferred to the Lagos State Police headquarters for discreet investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu,” he stated.

Five Nigerians Jailed For Defrauding Belgian, Italian, Dutch, Others
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sokoto Zonal office on Thursday 17 June, 2021 secured the conviction of five internet fraudsters.
The fraudsters are: Alfred Stephen, Onyebuchi Joseph Elijah ( a.k.a Svenulrich), Usman Mustapha, Abdullahi Abubakar (a.k.a Shine Eye) and Umar Khalifa.
They were convicted on separate charges before Justice Muhammad Muhammad of the Sokoto State High Court, Sokoto.
They were prosecuted on a one count charge each bordering on conspiracy and cheating.
The charge against one of the defendants reads, “that you Alfred Stephen, sometime in 2021 at Sokoto, within the Judicial Division of the High Court of Justice of Sokoto State did fraudulently cheated one Grazyna, a Belgium national; Alfansina, an Italian and Janny, a Dutch woman by dishonestly deceiving them to collect the total sum of €19,500 Euros (Nineteen Thousand Five Hundred Euros) by presenting yourself to them as an American serving in Syria and sending documents of false pretenses to them which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence of cheating contrary to Section 310 of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law 2019 and punishable under Section 311 of the same Law”.
Upon arraignment, they pleaded ‘guilty’ to the separate charges.
In view of the defendants’ plea, the prosecuting counsel, S. H. Sa’ad who appeared with Musa Mela Gwani and Habila Jonathan asked the court to convict and sentence the defendants.
However, the defence counsel, Shamsu Dauda, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as his clients were first time offenders who have become remorseful. He also told the court that the convicts are ready to restitute their victims.
Justice Muhammad, thereafter convicted and sentenced the 1st defendant (Alfred Stephen) to Five (5) years imprisonment with option of N150,000.00 fine.
He ordered the convict to restitute the sum €19,500 to the victim through EFCC.
The 2nd defendant, Onyebuchi Joseph Elijah (a.k.a Mr. Svenulrich) was setenced to five years imprisonment with an option of N150,000.00 fine. The convict is also to restitute the victim the sum of €1,750.00.
The 3rd defendant, Usman Mustapha was sentenced to five (5) years imprisonment with an option of N150,000.00 fine.
He is to restitute the sum Five Thousand Denmark Krone which is equivalent to Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira only (N310,000) to the victim.
The 4th and 5th defendants, Abdullahi Abubakar (a.k.a Shine Eye) and Umar Khalifa were convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment each with an option of N100, 000.00 fine
