You Must Buckle Up Now, Ten Hag Warns Man United Players

Published

on

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has told his players to stop feeling sorry for themselves, according to the UK Sun.

This follows their humiliating 4-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

The result leaves the Red Devils bottom of the Premier League after two games.

Ten Hag has so far been unable to impose his philosophy on a team that finished sixth last term.

The Dutchman attempted to make his mark in the wake of the Brentford defeat by cancelling the squad’s planned day off on Sunday and dragging them in for extra training.

He also called them in for a frank team meeting, in which he told them to stop feeling sorry for themselves in a brutal speech which also called on the squad to start showing some fight and belief.

Ten Hag described the Brentford performance as an “embarrassment” at half-time and demanded a response after the break.

He made a triple-substitution at half-time, but saw no fightback as the hosts held onto their four-goal lead comfortably.

Their next fixture is at home against Liverpool on Monday.

Pep Guardiola Confident of Man City’s Title Chances

Published

on

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed that Arsenal and Liverpool’s ability to score late goals is helping their Premier League title bid.

According to the Spaniard, this is something his City side don’t have.

Guardiola is looking to win his sixth Premier League title and watched his team hammer Luton 5-1 at the Etihad on Saturday.

But Guardiola believes that constant late shows at Anfield and the Emirates have put Liverpool and Arsenal in control.

He said: “The only biggest difference between Arsenal, Liverpool and us is that they won a lot of points in stoppage-time. A lot. That helped them be in the position they are.

“Of course, all three teams have had incredible seasons. But they won a lot of points for the talent they have because of this [late goals].

“It happened for Liverpool many times in the last eight years and for Arsenal many times, because of their talent. It’s a credit to them, not the opposite.”

Arsenal Will Bounce Back From Aston Villa Defeat, Says Atiku

Published

Former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar has backed Arsenal to bounce back from their defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Gunners were stunned by the visitors who handed them a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

Substitute Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins got the goals for Unai Emery’s side.

The result put a dent on Arsenal’s title hopes.

Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, however insisted that Mikel Arteta’s men still have a chance of winning the title.
“Not the result we expected from Arsenal. But we move; it’s not over until it is over,” Atiku, who is a staunch Arsenal supporter, wrote on X.

The North London club will be in action against Bayer Munich on Wednesday.
